@greghiggins It’s a fascinating rabbit hole. Russian watchmaking was kickstarted by the recession in the US and machinery from the East Germany (post 2WW). Polish watchmaking was based on the USSR licenses but right when polish factories got sophisticated enough to make their own parts, soviets decided to shut them down. Once you get outside of the Swiss watchmaking (pretty unexciting), it’s like assembling geopolitical puzzles of the last 150 years.
